Happy New Year! Happy new diary, happy new energy, happy new prezzies, happy new plans, and happy new ideas.

Nothing like the freshness of a year beginning and since we've (finally) managed to get passed digesting the festive feasts, the mind is beginning to flow. The quiet and calm of January gives great space for a breeze of ideas, they wonder in and out of our OoI minds and are all together crazy, fabulous, exciting, huge, silly, adventurous, initial but are all together leaving stimulation, excitement, energy, hope, they're waking us from a well deserved rest and guiding us forward to this year's projects and events. It's a brilliant time! One not to be ignored and one that we would like to encourage.

And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow, stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so?
It came without ribbons. It came without tags.
It came without packages, boxes or bags.
And he puzzled and puzzled 'till his puzzler was sore.
Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before.
What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store.

It's a tough project to design something for 'family'. Our Soula needed a website for her artwork, can you hear the alarm bells? So we have art and design, which steers it? Is it design first, then the art, or just art or just design... hang on, let's just ask Soula how she wants her site to look...

As if that's going to work, that's the whole problem, Soula wants her yellow cupcake and to eat it too! In fact she laps up both personalities claiming that she can't choose between them, and in fact needs both and has incorporated both in her life all the time!!!

We love to discover and acquire 'black and yellow' goods. You can imagine our delight when we saw Aesop's new Body Petitgrain Gel and it wasn't just the enveloping colours that did it for us (well, the yellow did finally give us the excuse to get an Aesop article on our blog!) but the way design wraps around you from entry to exit in any Aesop store is a treasured experience, not to mention the value the label gives our industry. If you struggle to understand what design is all about, just head into an Aesop store, it's there, all around you, and all your senses will be 'designedly' satisfied.
